Bu academyddion o’r Drindod Dewi Sant ar ymweliad ag Awstralia i ddysgu gan gydweithwyr a rhannu datblygiadau’n ymwneud â thaith diwygio addysg Cymru.
Derbyniwyd papur gan staff o’r Athrofa Addysg a’r Dyniaethau yng nghynhadledd flynyddol Cymdeithas Ymchwil mewn Addysg Awstralia (AARE) – sy’n dod ag arbenigwyr addysg at ei gilydd o bob cwr o’r byd.
A hithau’n un o brif gynadleddau ymchwil addysg yn y byd, roedd tua 1,000 o gynadleddwyr yn mynychu’r digwyddiad eleni yn Brisbane.
Yn rhan o’r gynhadledd, cymerodd Yr Athrofa ran mewn symposiwm yn dwyn y teitl ‘Cyfiawnder Cymdeithasol a Diwygio Addysg yn Genedlaethol yng Nghymru’, a fu’n edrych ar daith diwygio addysg yng Nghymru, datblygiadau mewn addysg athrawon, a dysgu proffesiynol.
Bu’r staff yn cyflwyno ar y cyd â’r Athro John Furlong, Athro Emeritws mewn Addysg ym Mhrifysgol Rhydychen, a chyn gadeirydd Bwrdd Achredu AGA Cyngor y Gweithlu Addysg (CGA).
Fe wnaeth yr Athro Furlong rannu â’r cyfeillion yn y gynhadledd ei adroddiad o 2015, ‘Addysgu Athrawon Yfory’, a arweiniodd at ddiwygio sylweddol yn y maes addysg athrawon yng Nghymru.
Cafwyd cyflwyniad gan yr Athro Kay Livingston, arbenigwraig ar ymchwil addysgol sy’n gweithio ym Mhrifysgol Glasgow, ar y gwaith y mae wedi bod yn ei ddatblygu gyda chydweithwyr yn y Drindod Dewi Sant i fapio effaith y newidiadau hyn ar staff mewn ysgolion a’r brifysgol.
Rhoddodd Gareth Evans, Cyfarwyddwr Polisi Addysg yn Yr Athrofa, drosolwg o ddatblygiad polisi addysg yng Nghymru ers datganoli, yn ogystal â’r heriau a’r cyfleoedd a gynigir gan y diwygio uchelgeisiol o’r cwricwlwm yng Nghymru.
Bu’r addysgwyr athrawon, Rachel Wallis, Arweinydd Mathemateg a Rhifedd Yr Athrofa, a darlithydd y Dyniaethau, Dr Sioned Hughes, yn trafod eu cyfraniad at y prosiect arloesol CAMAU, sy’n cefnogi cynnydd dysgwyr trwy eu haddysg orfodol.
Yna cymerodd y ddirprwyaeth ran mewn ymweliad astudio byr â Phrifysgol Newcastle, lle cawsant eu croesawu gan yr Athro Llawryfol Jenny Gore a’i thîm yng nghanolfan ddylanwadol y brifysgol ar Ymchwil Athrawon ac Addysgu. Manteisiodd y ddau barti ar y cyfle i rannu eu gwaith cyfredol i gefnogi dysgu proffesiynol a datblygiad ymchwil athrawon.
Meddai Gareth Evans, Cyfarwyddwr Polisi Addysg yn Yr Athrofa: “Rydym yn ddiolchgar iawn i gael y cyfle i rannu ‘stori Cymru’ o ran diwygio addysg gyda chydweithwyr o bedwar ban byd.
“Yn sicr roedd llawer o ddiddordeb yn yr hyn yr ydym ni yng Nghymru’n ei wneud i ddiwygio a datblygu ein system addysg, a llawer o optimistiaeth ein bod ni’n mynd i’r cyfeiriad cywir.
“Roedd yr angen am ddewrder, ymrwymiad ac ymddiriedaeth yn ein haddysgwyr i wneud yr hyn sy’n iawn i’w dysgwyr yn themâu a gododd dro ar ôl tro, er i faterion yn ymwneud ag ariannu, capasiti ac atebolrwydd gael eu nodi fel rhwystrau posibl.
“Mae’n amlwg nad yw Cymru ar ei phen ei hun wrth wynebu nifer o heriau o ran diwygio addysg, ac mae’n bwysig ein bod yn ceisio dysgu gan gydweithwyr sydd wedi rhannu’r un profiadau.
“Ran o’r ffordd yn unig y mae Cymru trwy ei thaith ddiwygio, ac mae’n rhaid i ni fanteisio ar ein ‘cyfeillion beirniadol’ o bob rhan o’r dirwedd addysgol i lywio a siapio ein system addysg yn well wrth symud ymlaen.
“Hoffem ddiolch i’r Athro Gore a’i thîm talentog am eu croeso cynnes ac am roi mor hael o’u hamser mewn cyfnod prysur ar ddiwedd y flwyddyn academaidd Mae ein hymweliad ag Awstralia wedi rhoi cyfle unigryw i ni greu perthnasau proffesiynol newydd ac ymestyn cyrhaeddiad Cymru i ochr arall y byd – ac edrychwn ymlaen yn fawr at barhau â’n trafodaethau yn ystod y misoedd a’r blynyddoedd i ddod.”
